Training to Build Together More Effectively

Sunday, 10 July 2022

The LIFE_LETsGO4Climate project enabled residents of the Centre-Val de Loire region to train in collective intelligence, to better cooperate with the stakeholders they encounter in their professional lives.

Training in “Collective Intelligence” to Build Better Together

Is my workshop focused on consultation, information sharing, or co-decision-making? How can mutual understanding be facilitated and consensual solutions emerge within a group? What methods can be used to engage people sustainably within a network?

These are the questions, among many others, that the training organized as part of the LIFE_LETsGO4Climate project aims to address. From May to July, three sessions were held in Orléans and Tours, hosting three groups of participants.

Officials and elected representatives from the local authorities involved in the project were invited to participate in these training sessions. A few individuals, engaged in actions related to energy transition, also took part.

The three days of training, punctuated by practical exercises based on participants’ real-life challenges, were provided by the cooperative company Les vigies.

The diversity of participants—officials, elected representatives, and engaged individuals—encouraged rich exchanges and sharing of experiences during this second training session in Tours.

Collective Intelligence and Energy Transition: What’s the Connection?

At the heart of the LIFE_LETsGO4Climate project is the desire to create consensus around energy production and consumption. The observation is that past and current projects sometimes face local opposition. The bet is to bring together local authorities, their residents, and economic stakeholders around the table, in order to create projects that generate strong local support.

The people who participated in the training now have a key role to play within the LIFE_LETsGO4Climate project. They will be able to use this learning to facilitate the approach in the territories involved in the project. And the next step is approaching soon! Starting next October, a series of four workshops will begin in each of the partner communities. The use of so-called collective intelligence methods will bring out the best from the group of one hundred participating residents.

It is likely that, in your own professional life, you too may be called upon to facilitate groups of people and manage complex interactions… Please note that the training is also available in the ADEME catalog and is open to mission managers from France Renov’ networks, circular economy, climate, air, and energy, mobility facilitators, EIT, and sustainable food.
