The project
The LOCAL ENERGY TRANSITION STRATEGIES GOING FOR CLIMATE CHANGE project, known as LETsGO4Climate, has been selected among more than 1 250 others by applying to the Climate Governance and Information call for proposals of the European LIFE programme 2019, published in April 2019.
The energy sector is responsible for more than 75% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Europe. To reduce these emissions, European and national initiatives are not sufficient. Regional and local action is necessary, through the engagement of territories and citizens. However, several technical, organisational, legal and financial obstacles have impeded the development of territorial initiatives. Moreover, there is a general lack of information and tools to support these projects.
With its project, Centre-Val de Loire regional Council is one of the winners of the call for proposal LIFE programme. The LIFE Programme is the European Union’s funding instrument for the Environment and Climate Actions. The aim of this project is the adoption and promotion of a low carbon circular economy in Europe.
The winners has been revealed by the former LIFE programme on the 2nd June 2020 at the biggest European event : the EU green week! Thus, innovative, inspiring and effective projects have been rewarded. All of them be linked to one of the three main topics, namely Environnemental, Nature and Climate actions.
